Meet Arya Thampuran and Katie Harling-Lee, two PhD researchers who have particular interests in contemporary fiction, and who have set up a new network to draw you into the conversation as well.

In this podcast, we chatted with Arya and Katie about their own research, the field of modern and contemporary literary studies today, and the group they have recently formed, ModCon: Modern and Contemporary Literature Network.

ModCon LogoModCon seeks to take full advantage of the interdisciplinary potential of modern and contemporary literature. Arya and Katie aim to bring together researchers focused on modern and contemporary literature, crossing into the areas of medical humanities, ecocriticism, critical race studies, queer studies, the intermedial, digital and visual culture, etc. Through this group they hope to provide a community for academic discussion and a social environment for collaborative work, in an attempt to counter the isolation of postgraduate study.

If you’re interested in participating, find ModCon on Twitter (@ModConDurham), Facebook, or visit the ModCon website, where you can sign-up to the mailing list.
