Charles Dickens and Christmas Time

Professor Simon James discusses Charles Dickens’s enduringly popular novel, A Christmas Carol.

Christmas is a period of the year when we mark the turning of the seasons and recall our roots in our families. The character of Scrooge reminds us of the importance of maintaining these memorial rituals and acknowledging the passing of time. As Scrooge discovers, the memory of Christmasses past helps us to live well in the present and future.
