While some people may be jetting off to foreign climes this summer, people of the North East get the chance to travel afar through the power of books. Check out our new listing for some of the excursions of the imagination on offer this month.
Step through the portal of the amazing Time Machines exhibition now running at Durham’s Palace Green Library, which explores how stories can make us into time travellers. Throughout June there are a number of special events, including a programme of talks, an interactive evening show that brings to life some of your favourite sci-fi stories, and a series of film screenings. See the What’s On guide for more.
No literary genre brings to life fantastic worlds more vividly than the graphic novel. Celebrate this unique form at Wonderlands, the UK’s only graphic novel expo in Sunderland.
Lastly, cross the Tees with the region’s latest book festival, featuring workshops and readings from writers from the North East and beyond.
