Our newly published listing of North East literature events is fizzing with lectures and bookchat to spark your imagination this month.
After Durham, Sunderland and Berwick book festivals in September, it’s Newcastle’s turn this time. Experience Books on Tyne from 21st to 27th November, with author readings, creative writing workshops, and family activities.
Casting the net from the regional to the global, Professor Tim Clark will take a look at how literature and literary criticism can talk about climate change, in an IAS lecture. The future of humanity – as well as the past – is similarly a feature of the Being Human festival running across the universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland. Also on the radar, and continuing the theme of our uncertain future, the Inventions of the Text seminar series recommences with a look at the depiction of surveillance on screen following the Edward Snowden revelations.
These are just a few of the exciting literature events in the North East this month. Subscribe to our full listing for our monthly newsletter, or keep in touch with us on Twitter or Facebook for reminders and additional events. Share your own events using the #NELiteratureEvents hashtag.
