English Events in January 2015

Happy New Year! Our English Events newsletter for January 2015 is now available. The newsletter lists a wide variety of literature-related events taking place at Durham University and across the wider North East region. The newsletter will be updated over the coming month as more events are added to external websites. Please follow our Twitter feed or Facebook page for the latest news.

Highlights at Durham University this month include an Institute of Advanced Study workshop on new disciplinary approaches in the humanities, as well as a debate between esteemed scholars Katherine Hayles and Bernard Stiegler about the value and dangers of digital technology. Our Inventions of the Text seminar series also returns for its new run this term.

More widely, the North-East Forum in Eighteenth-Century and Romantic Studies hosts its first seminar of the year, whilst the Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies takes its first research conversation event to Newcastle University, on the theme of Statues and Monuments.

This is just a taste of the wide array of events taking place in our region. For full listings, check out our newsletter, as well as other regional sources such as New Writing North.
