Our English Events newsletter for June 2014 is now available. The newsletter lists a wide variety of literature-related events taking place at Durham University and across the wider North East region. The newsletter will be updated over the coming month as more events are added to external websites. Please follow our Twitter feed or Facebook page for the latest news.
Highlights at Durham University this month include lectures on Surveillance in Literature and Film: 1516-2013 and the Economics of Dramatic Convention in Renaissance Drama. Meanwhile, an interdisciplinary postgraduate conference will explore American Imperialism and International Identity.
Continuing the American theme beyond Durham, a conference at Teesside University will examine British Culture After 9/11.
June also sees the official launches of new books of poetry by two of the region’s leading poets. Durham’s own Paul Bachelor will launch The Love Darg, whilst Tom Pickard releases his new Collected Poems (as featured in a recent READ podcast).
Finally, the first meeting of the Palace Green Book Club will take place on 24th June, with a view to exploring books linked to the Library’s exhibition programme and collections.
