Our English Events newsletter for May 2013 is now available. The newsletter lists a wide variety of literature-related events taking place at Durham University and across the wider North East region. The newsletter will be updated over the coming month as more events are added to external websites. Please follow our Twitter feed or Facebook page for the latest news.
Highlights at Durham University this month include a lecture on the Future of the Book, by Professor John B Thompson, and the launch of Gareth Reeves’ latest collection of poetry. The Centre for Medical Humanities conference on Understanding Human Flourishing runs from 16th to 17th May.
Elsewhere, Nobel Prize-winning poet Derek Walcott reads at the Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts. Meanwhile, the Fashionable Diseases project at Northumbria University hosts the philosopher Ian Hacking on the science of Making People Up, and runs a workshop on Fashionable Suicides of the Romantic Era.
