Two major conferences on Modernism are being hosted at Durham in 2013. A reminder that the Calls for Papers are still open for both.
“Efface the Traces!” Modernism and Influence will explore the narratives of influence which conventionally attach to modernist authors. The conference will challenge the orthodoxies which inform discussion of the cultural location of canonical modernist figures, and expose the work of non-canonical figures whose contributions to modernist poetics have been occluded by these same orthodoxies. This Call for Papers closes on 1st December, with the conference running from 9th to 11th April.
Update: The deadline for Efface the Traces! abstracts has now been extended to 1st January 2013.
Maverick Voices and Modernity is an international conference whose aim is to explore and reflect upon the wide range of writers that were caught up in the Modernist moment, but who traditionally fall outside of what has been thought of as literary Modernism. The conference will run from 5th to 6th July 2013. This Call for Papers closes on 1st March.
Both conferences are run under the Modernist Studies Research Group within the Department.
