An Evening with T.S. Eliot

TS Eliot's signatureOn 17th October “Poetry Aloud” celebrates the poetry of T.S. Eliot, in a reading by Dr Gareth Reeves and Dr Jason Harding.

Run under the auspices of the Durham Centre for Poetry and Poetics and St. Chad’s College, Poetry Aloud is an occasional series that celebrates poetry in performance. Poets featured previously in the series include Anne Stevenson and Philip Larkin.

This next event will feature T.S. Eliot, with his poetry being read by two scholars who specialise in his life and works. Dr Gareth Reeves – whose own poetry recently featured in a podcast on READ – has written extensively on British and American poetry of the twentieth century, including a book on T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. Dr Jason Harding is a member of the Eliot Editorial Project, producing authorised, fully annotated editions of The Complete Prose. Most recent he has edited the collection, T.S. Eliot in Context.

The evening promises to be a celebration of the poetry of Eliot, informed by the research of two expert voices on his work. The free event runs on 17th October at 5.30, in St. Chad’s College Chapel.
