One of the Britain’s best-known novelists, Iain Banks, has just published his new novel, Stonemouth. This is an observation of contemporary society as seen through the eyes of a one-time criminal, Stu Gilmour, as he returns to his home town after several years away.
Writing under the pseudonym Iain M. Banks, the author also publishes science fiction. Appropriately, Dr Simon James, who has recently written a book on H.G. Wells, will be interviewing Iain Banks as part of the Hexham Book Festival, on 28th April at 8.00. Tickets for the event are priced from £4.
